Artist: Albert Ashton
‘Tangata Whenua’, Māori, the indigenous people of Aotearoa meaning ‘a people born from the land’, activates the performance Ngahere. A visual narrative interweaving between the artists body with native forests of their hau kãinga, Whangateau. Adorned in a Pākē, Māori rain cloak, the taonga activates the body, genealogy, time, and space.
