Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Locust Jones currently lives and works in the Blue Mountains, Australia. In his work, the drawn line is a raw and visceral vehicle to critique news consumption, continuing across single sheets and vast rolls of paper. This ambitious drawing practice acts as an expanded archive of global news and personal motifs, filtering images of social unrest, political corruption and everyday violence through the quiet lens of his home life in Katoomba. Present, yet removed, he speaks of his interest in the juxtaposition of worlds. Jones has exhibited extensively both in Australia and internationally in Berlin, New York and Christchurch, starting off this year with a major solo show at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in New South Wales.
