Rob Tucker is a New Zealand artist living and working in Auckland. His paintings have received much acclaim internationally, thanks to his confident use of scale, tone and colour. Tucker generally chooses traditional subject-matter, such as still-life vignettes, cargo ships or urban landscapes. Within these confines he is free to push the boundaries of his aesthetic choices, resulting in big, bold and joyous paintings.
“My treatment of form develops from how a subject presents in my imagination – candid and unrehearsed. This allows me to play with subject matter to be both personalised and not completely recognisable. Composition, is arranged ad-lib, however always with a consideration of how shape and form and colour off-set one another.”
