Artspace is a public, non-collecting art institution located on Auckland’s Karangahape Road. Artspace is dedicated to commissioning and presenting new ideas in art and culture, as well as fostering critical debate and generating intellectual feedback. Through developing and nurturing artistic research at a national and international level, Artspace is an intersection between contemporary art practices, exhibition making and critical thinking in New Zealand, bridging the universal with the contextual. Artspace receives major public funding from Creative New Zealand.
Artspace collaborates with selected artists from its programme to generate special fundraising editions, the proceeds of which go directly towards supporting the free programme of exhibitions and events. The editions are also an affordable way for public supporters to own work by new and exciting local and international artists, and to form a collection of contemporary art with a unique Artspace perspective.
