For the 2018 edition of the Auckland Art Fair, Bergman Gallery presents new works by Sylvia Marsters and 2017James Wallace Arts Trust Paramount Award Winner Andy Leleisi’uao.
Marsters will debut a brand new format of Gardenia compositions up to 1.5m square. The artist’s increasingly refined detailed depiction of the iconic Pacific flower merges fantasy and reality as she explores her Cook Islands’ family history and perceptions of Island folklore.
Sylvia Marsters was exhibited at VOLTA NY in 2014. Marsters also featured in the Bergman Gallery presentation at the Auckland Art Fair in 2016. Her work is included in the Collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand, and the Cook Islands National Museum.
Andy Leleisi’uao will present a new series of works that continues recent trends in his celebrated paintings. Colour, form and construct play a central role as the artists pointed commentary continues to question the ambiguity and myriad of purpose that has come to define human interaction.
Andy has exhibited throughout New Zealand and has been involved in solo and group presentations in Australia, Rarotonga, Germany, Taiwan and the USA. His work is included in the permanent collections of Pataka Museum and Art Gallery, the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, the Auckland Art Gallery, the Chartwell Collection, and the James Wallace Arts Trust collection.
Bergman Gallery is located in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
