As New Zealand’s major museum of contemporary art, and the global home of Len Lye, the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and Len Lye Centre, New Plymouth, Taranaki is pleased to be the Museum Partner of the 2020 Auckland Art Fair.
With support from partners in Taranaki, we are delighted to showcase one of Len Lye’s major kinetic sculptures at the Fair, seen for the first time in Auckland.
Visit Taranaki, home to the Govett Brewster Art Gallery and Len Lye Centre, Aotearoa New Zealand’s contemporary art museum and the global home of Len Lye’s art.
Just a 40 minute flight from Auckland, experience Len Lye’s SKY SNAKES, seven ceiling-mounted spinning snakes recently installed at the Len Lye Centre and not seen since 1965. From 18 April to 26 July you can also take in Tai Moana Tai Tangata, featuring five new art works from Brett Graham (Ngāti Kōroki Kahukura), which revisit key events in the history of Māori and fold those impacts into the present.
While you are in the region, make time to explore the Coastal Walkway and Mount Taranaki, and enjoy the hospitality of the King & Queen Suites, breakfast at Monica’s and dinner in one of the award winning restaurants of the city.
