Art. Here there and everywhere.
Sydney. The city launches its inaugural Art Month this week with a month long festival celebrating the city’s visual arts culture with 70+ art galleries and art institutions participating.
Auckland. The 4th Auckland Triennial kicks off on the 12th with an ambitious programme of national and international artists taking place over 5 city venues. Sunday 14 March is Art Sunday in the CBD art precinct and the galleries will be open from 12 – 5 pm.
Venice. The artist chosen to represent New Zealand at the 54th Venice Biennale is Michael Parekowhai who, Commissioner Jenny Harper says “can be relied on to create a sense of drama and surprise.” Sculptor Hany Armanious has been invited to represent Australia for a second time.
New York. Art lovers may need snowshoes to get to the opening of The Armoury Show in New York this week. Anna Schwartz will be one of more than 200 international galleries taking part this year.
Looks like the holidays are well and truly over and art is back to work.
