For 20 years, Melbourne’s Sutton Gallery has continued to promote challenging emerging and established artists.
At the Auckland Art Fair 2011, Sutton Gallery presents Helen Johnson, whose floor-based installation El Grande will greet visitors as they enter the Art Fair via the Sculpture Court. The work references the destruction of Australia’s largest tree, killed during regenerative burning in Tasmania’s Florentine Valley in 2003, with multicoloured blankets stitched together in a reconstruction of its circumference.
The gallery will also present works by Stephen Bush, David Jolly, Lindy Lee, John Meade and Kiki Smith.
