Arts 4 Us – Children’s Workshop: Create a unique piece of art.
Children will be invited to create a piece of art using a variety of materials, while being guided by an Arts 4 Us Arts Therapist. Using a mixture of open studio and more directed artistic activities your child will use art to form images reflecting on how they’re feeling and thinking.
Dance and Arts Therapy NZ is a registered charitable trust that began in 2010. Their mission is to support and empower individuals and groups in Aotearoa NZ through the use of Dance Movement and Arts therapies, with a focus on those with disabilities, special needs and at risk/low income communities. While the focus is on artistic expression and development of arts skills, the creative process fosters and nurtures self-esteem and confidence, strengthened self-identity and local community as well as contributing to the early intervention and prevention of violence and bullying culture. Dance and Arts Therapy NZ currently offer two different community arts programmes led by certified Arts Therapists, Arts 4 Us General, and Arts for Us Specialty.
Arts 4 Us General is a free therapeutic programme designed to introduce children and youth in low income areas, particularly from Māori and Pacific Island backgrounds, to the creative arts through a hands-on, multimedia, experiential art-based programme.
The Arts 4 Us Speciality is a therapeutic programme designed to engage children and teenagers on the Autism Spectrum (or with related disorders) through art-making.
