Born in Shanghai, China, she currently lives and works there. Her passion for animation and game culture led her to explore the world of 3D modelling and creating her own digital art. Wang’s aesthetic is anthropocentric, featuring close-ups of humanoid faces and avatars with futuristic body modifications and styles. Her aesthetic is much prettier, than the work of many post-internet artists as she eschews the rough, pixelated style of the 1990s in favour of cinematic near-realism.
Her recent exhibitions include Now: A Dialogue on Female Chinese Contemporary Artists，Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China, 2018; HOME, Manchester; Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Nottingham; Contemporary and Turner Contemporary, Magette, Britain, 2018; Digital Samplers, The Galaxy Museum of Contemporary Art, Chongqing, China, 2017; Three Rooms, Chronus Art Center, Shanghai, China, 2017; No Commission, Shanghai Exhibition Center, Shanghai, China, 2017; 3dh Festival, Berlin, Germany, 2016; Information Sculpture Superhighway, MadeIn Gallery, Shanghai, China, 2016; Zero for Conduct, Tabula Rasa Gallery, Beijing, China, 2016; and Extravagant Imagination, the Wonder of Idleness, MadeIn Gallery, Shanghai, China, 2016.
