Angel Numbers on the Dash touches on New Zealand’s housing crisis and its impact on those affected by it. Ming Ranginui began by modifying her 2003 Daihatsu Sirion car, changing and removing the upholstery and number plates, transforming the car into something new.

The inspiration for this series of works on Britomart’s Pavilion Panels and in flags around the district by painter Judy Millar came from the directness of old grocery signage: prices of goods in straightforward black ink backed by bright, attention-seeking hues. Except here, as rendered by Millar’s brushes, those numerals have evolved into something less legible and more thought-provoking. Is the artist selling something? Or is she simply asking you to pay attention?

Four Female Artist Pop Up Exhibition at Karen Walker, Britomart

To coincide with the Aotearoa Art Fair, the Karen Walker Britomart store will be transformed into a temporary gallery — four artists creating bold new work in direct conversation with one of New Zealand's most iconic fashion brands. Monica Rani Rudhar and Jess Swney (Foënander Gallery) alongside Julia Holderness and Josephine Cachemaille (SANDERSON) each respond to the Karen Walker world in their own distinct voice.
