For this year’s art fair, Toi Tauranga presents Whakairo, a commissioned art installation by Kereama Taeapa (Te Arawa, Te Āti Awa) that spans the physical and virtual worlds. Meaning ‘to emulate the worm’, Whakairo encompasses the art of carving within Te Ao Māori. This AR experience is a small prelude, with the final, complete exhibition to open at Tauranga Art Gallery in early 2025 as part of our reopening program.
