Ben Pearce is a full-time sculptor working in bronze, brass, wood and corten steel. His work is held in prominent private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This piece inhabits a space already known to consciousnesses. Landmarks in human history, such as Stonehenge, tell of a time when our ancestors were highly spiritual, ritualistic and at one with nature and its rhythms. Pearce’s rock-like sculptures tap into this inner body memory and seek to explore whether we still understand this early power we, as a society, once placed in stones. This ‘mini-henge’ is a condensed arrangement, clinging onto a rocky outcrop, propped up by supports possibly out at sea, just off the rock pools. Our mind may drift to the faint ancient ceremonial melody echoing in the stones on a moonlit night.
