For Aotearoa Art Fair, Neil Ieremia presents a live kinetic painting performance that translates the immediacy of dance into gesture, colour, and mark-making. Responding in real time to the improvisational energy of dancers and an evolving soundscape, Ieremia allows movement to lead the hand, creating paintings that capture rhythm, emotion, and momentum as they unfold. Rooted in memories of his Pacific upbringing, the vivid palette draws on the bold florals and traditional patterns of his parents’ clothing, transforming personal history into a powerful visual language of pride, identity, and resilience. The performance becomes both an act of spontaneous composition and a meditation on cultural memory, where choreography, music, and paint converge in a living expression of movement.
